Computer Applications & Programming

The difference:
Computer Applications is a course where you learn to use the software that has become a business standard. We will work in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. At the end of each unit, students have the opportunity to become MOS Certified to show their knowledge of the programs.

Computer Programming is a course designed to give students and introduction to creating interactive web pages using JavaScript, jQuery, HTML and CSS.

B. Savic's Guide to Surviving Computer Class ...and a little bit 'bout me!

Computer and business classes structure our modern world. The fact that there are students who graduate from HHS and don't take a single one is baffling to me. These classes, and yes, I am heavily biased on this, are essential for any field in economics, business, and/or web development. I am here to help you succeed. If you need help, I am here to guide you, and if things get frustrating, we can work it out together. Mary Tyler Moore, a wonderful actress from da good old days said it best, "Take chances, make mistakes. That's how you grow.”

But enough of this literary mumbo jumbo, hello there, my name is Mrs. Savic (although known as "The Grape" to some) and I am your guide through this treacherous journey. I graduated from Concordia University in 1991 with a Bachelor's in education, where the following school year I began coaching girls' basketball and teaching keyboarding at Waukegan High School. In 1995, I moved back up to Wisconsin to continue coaching girls' basketball and teaching computing and business at Templeton Middle School. In 2004, I moved to the high school to continue with coding and personal finance. I love fishing with my husband, photography, and spending time with my two nieces.

huh, that's me!
